Hanni (하니) is a Vietnamese-Australian member of the K-pop girl group NewJeans.
History[]
Hanni was born on October 6, 2004, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Her father and mother are of Vietnamese descent.Her parents and grandparents migrated to Australia some time before her birth.She has a younger sister Jasmine,who was born in Melbourne in 2007.
Hanni was a fan of One Direction as a child, and was photographed holding a sign at one of their concerts in 2013. Her bias was Niall Horan.
Hanni was raised as a Catholic. After moving to South Korea, she was enrolled in online courses at her former high school in Australia.
In 2019, Hanni was part of an Australian K-pop dance cover group called AEMINA. In October 2019, she passed the Plus Global Auditions[3] and became a trainee in 2020. She was later revealed to be the only member who passed from these auditions.

2021: BTS "Permission to Dance" MV appearance[]
Hanni appeared in a minor role with future NewJeans member Minji,in the music video for BTS's song "Permission to Dance".
2022: Debut[]
Hanni was revealed as a member of ADOR's new girl group NewJeans on July 21, 2022. She subsequently debuted on August 1, 2022 with the mini album New Jeans.

- She is the only member who isn't born in April or May.
- Hanni was born in Australia.
- She uses an Australian passport while traveling.
- Hanni speaks English and Korean but is not that good at Vietnamese. She said speaking Vietnamese is hard.
- She speaks Vietnamese with a foreign accent and is not fully fluent.

- She is a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo. She trained in the dojo that is owned by her grandfather. She can only do a jumping front kick with the right leg as kicking leg.
- After her appearance in BTS's "Permission to Dance" MV, fans nicknamed her Cherry as they didn't know her name. She was in the same MV with Minji.
- She is one of the few Vietnamese idols in the K-pop industry.
- If she had gone to university instead of debuting as an idol, she would have liked to study science and medicine or filmography.[5]
- She is the most competitive member in the group, but Minji trumps her in terms of win rates in both athletics and luck-based games.
