Danielle (다니엘) is an Australian-Korean member of the K-pop girl group NewJeans.
History[]
Danielle was born Danielle Marsh/Mo Ji-hye on April 11, 2005 in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia.[2] Her father is an Australian named Andrew Marsh, and her mother is a South Korean native named Mo Ji-won (모지원). Danielle has one older sister, Olivia Marsh/Mo Gyu-na (모규나), who was born in 2000.
Danielle moved with her family to South Korea around 2008 when she was three years old, where they remained until 2012 when they moved back to Australia. During this time in South Korea, she was a student at Munsan Elementary School.[3] Danielle returned to Australia at the start of elementary school in June 2012 and grew up until she came back to Korea as a teenager.
Danielle was a former YG Entertainment during her middle school years and after leaving attended Def Dance Academy briefly in Seoul where she trained in vocals and dance[4]. She then passed Source Music audition in July 2020, and then transferred to ADOR at the end of 2021.
Pre-Debut, Debut and VA Debut[]
2010–2012: Child model and television personality[]
Danielle began working as a child model and South Korean TV personality in 2010 under the name Mo Jihye, appearing in numerous TV shows and advertisements. An official Fancafe and Twitter account remain from this period. Her television career ended upon moving back to Australia.
2022: Debut with NewJeans[]
On July 21, 2022, NewJeans released a pre-debut music video featuring Danielle for their song "Attention". They officially debuted on August 1, 2022 with the EP New Jeans.
2023: Debut with voice acting[]
On May 2, 2023, Danielle was teased as the voice of Ariel in the Korean dub of the 2023 live action remake of the animated film,The Little Mermaid.[5] On May 17, Disney Korea released an official performance video for Danielle’s cover of “Part of Your World”,alongside clips of the movie.[6]
